Golden Nugget Race Maps

We paddled the Half-moon Outfitter's Golden Nugget Race courses last Thursday evening and it was absolutely beautiful. The dragonflies were out in multitudes zooming across the water--hopefully eating lots of mosquitoes. Some dolphin were around along with a few dozen seasonal shrimpers. We all enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the harbor and decided on two fun courses--both will start at the Shem Creek Boat Landing and end just past Red's Ice House at The Lighthouse where an awesome party for the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy will be awaiting us. If you haven't registered yet, do it today!

Recreation Course
The 5k will be a loop on the inside of Crab Bank so it will be perfect for first time racers, but still challenging enough to make it worthwhile. The prizes for the short course are fantastic (a board for first place in both divisions--men and women)!

Elite Course
The 10k course will be a trip out to Pitt Street Bridge (almost), out and around the outside of Crab Bank and then back into Shem Creek. We may get some fun waves from passing tankers, probably a little wind, a great view, and likely a strong whiff of a few hundred shorebirds that call Crab Bank home. It will be great!

Please encourage anyone you know who has an interest in paddling to come out and race--especially those who haven't raced before. This event is for a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.  Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy preserves the beautiful land and waterways that we love.
